Clarabelle’s mother, Clarabelle, niece, & aunt at her home.

Clarabelle suffers from sickle cell anemia. It is a debilitating blood disease that can attack the joints causing extreme pain and difficulty walking. The disease is hereditary and in previous years Clarabelle’s mother, aunt, and grandmother, who also suffer from sickle cell anemia, had received new joints. This year was Clarabelle’s turn.

Clarabelle’s mother, aunt & grandmother were all helped by Operation Walk - Freedom to Move

Natalie, OWFTM Physical Therapist helps Clarabelle take her first steps.

Clarabelle came to the Juan Bosch Clinic to meet with Dr. Duwelius where he determined that he could perform hip replacement surgery. The next day Clarabelle was walking with guidance from Natalie the Portland Team physical therapist as seen in the picture.
In our interview she thanked Operation Walk Freedom to Move over and over again for giving her back her life.
