Day 3 – 01/08/2017– Operation Walk Freedom to Move – We meet up with Father Ernesto Travieso, S.J. who founded the ILAC mission and Father Dan Hendrickson S.J. president of Creighton University, ILAC mission’s coordinator.
Operation Walk Freedom to Move has a long standing relationship with Creighton University and the ILAC mission. Their combined coordination and teamwork help ensure the mission trips come off with out a hitch.
We head into La Vega to visit the Juan Bosch Hospital clinic.
Here again patients arrive early and fill the lobby for just a chance to be considered.
The first stop on the mission to the Dominican Republic is at the ILAC (Institution for Latin American Concern) mission. The prospective patients arrive very early to meet with the doctors.
The Operation Walk Freedom to Move medical mission teams arrive at Juan Bosch Hospital
After some travel delay’s do to the winter storms crossing the United States the entire team has finally reunited at the Juan Bosch Hospital where they will be preforming 50+ cases over the next 4 days. They range from hip to knee replacements. And an unusual hip revision will provide a learning opportunity where Dr. Duwelius will teach the residents (Doctors in training) a new Technic they will be able to preform long after we leave.
