​Samual’s Story

Like so many of the people we see during the annual mission to the Dominican Republic, Samual’s life was dramatically altered from the trauma of an auto accident. Samual was riding his motorcycle to work one day when a car sideswiped him and he was thrown to the ground. After the accident he was taken to a local emergency room where they screwed his hip back together in a way that he had little to no chance of ever walking again.

There was a moment when Dr. Duwelius thought the surgery might fail.

In 2016 Samual came to the clinic and Dr. Duwelius felt he could help him. Samual’s surgery proved to be difficult and there was a moment when Dr. Duwelius thought it might fail. He eventually succeeded with the joint replacement and the next day Samual was walking with assistance of our physical therapist.

Today, instead of an uncertain future, Samual can walk without a limp and without pain. In the interview he thanked Operation Walk Freedom to Move over and over again for giving him back his life. The donation you give will change lives.
